2017 Scholarship Awards Banquet Pictures

2017 ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS BANQUET THURSDAY, MAY 18, 2017 6:00 P.M. EASTFIELD COLLEGE, PLEASANT GROVE CAMPUS The Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce awarded thirteen (13) $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors chosen from Dallas ISD highs schools: Samuell, Skyline and Spruce; seniors from the TRIO Program (participating student from the three DISD schools; and A+ Academy. New in 2017, Chamber member Atmos Energy Corporation sponsored five (5) scholarships. Atmos Energy Corporation, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is one of the United States' largest natural-gas-only distributors, serving over three million natural gas distribution customers. Thank you Atmos! New in 2017, Dallas City Councilmember Rick Callahan (District 5), and champion for Pleasant Grove, sponsored a scholarship. New in 2017, The Norman Prothro Memorial Scholarship, in memory of Mr. Norman Prothro, who was involved in many civic activities and was a long time board member and past chairman of the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Chamber member Dal-Tile sponsored a scholarship. Dal-Tile was founded in 1947 in Southeast Dallas, and is the largest private employer in our area. The Ingram Scholarship focuses on the role of small businesses in this community and across America. Funded by Blake Ingram, the Ingram Scholarship honors his dad William Martin Ingram Jr., founder of Auto City. Close to 90 attendees came out to hear each student tell their unique story, as well as speak about their background, accomplishments, and hopes and dreams for their futures. As a community, we have been very blessed with tremendous support from many area businesses and individuals for the Southeast Dallas Community Golf Classic and GroveFest events, which provided the funding for the SEDCC scholarships. 32nd Annual Spring Awards Banquet Pictures

Thursday, April 27, 2017 we celebrated and honored our outstanding Police, Fire, Educators, Board Member, Community Member and Business of the Year!

November Leadership Luncheon Pictures

The keynote speacker for the Chambers November luncheon was Mr. Syd Hurley, Founder and CEO of Vista Property Co.
Mr. Hurley has been involved in the acquisition, development, re-development and financing of more than 175 shopping center properties in Texas during his 28-year career.  After practicing law for three years with a prominent Dallas law firm, Mr. Hurley joined one of the largest private shopping center companies in Texas where he headed their finance and acquisitions group.  In 1997, he left and became a founding principal of a leading developer of community and power centers in and around Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin.  This experience afforded him the opportunity to build relationships with a broad sprectrum of capital providers and anchor tenants active in the market today.  In June of 2007, Mr. Hurley started Vista Property Company to carry on his shopping center investment and development activities, expanding its focus to high-growth Hispanic communities.  Mr. Hurley is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and Southern Methodist University School of Law.  He serves on the board of directors for the Care Center Ministries and is a Trustee of Providence Christian School of Texas.  He is married and has four children.
