Crime Stats and Safety Tips from July Crime Watch Meeting

Southeast Dallas

Sectors 310, 320, 330, 340 and 350

June 26 through July 23

Burglaries 39

Robberies 13

Numbers for both are burglaries and robberies are lower than the previous timeframe.

Burglaries. Fridays had the most reported burglaries with 14 out of 39 and Thursday and Wednesday was second and third. Sector 310 Buckner Terrace/Old East Dallas had the lowest number of offenses.

Robberies. There were 13 robberies in the above timeframe. Sectors 320, 350 and 330 were 1st, 2nd and 3rd with them occurring in the evening hours and most on Tuesdays.

Safety Tips

Pay attention to your surroundings when approaching your vehicle.

Always be alert.

Have your keys out in your hand making it easier for you to get in your car quickly and defend yourself if necessary.

Don’t be too trusting

Don’t lock your purse in the trunk of your car.

Check card readers at ATMs and gas stations before using. Pull on card reader before using it to make sure it doesn’t come off. If it does, do not use the ATM or the gas pump. 

Don’t leave large amounts of cash overnight in your establishment.

Keep only $50 - $100 in your cash register.

Have cameras installed in and around your business.

2017 Scholarship Awards Banquet Pictures

2017 ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS BANQUET THURSDAY, MAY 18, 2017 6:00 P.M. EASTFIELD COLLEGE, PLEASANT GROVE CAMPUS The Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce awarded thirteen (13) $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors chosen from Dallas ISD highs schools: Samuell, Skyline and Spruce; seniors from the TRIO Program (participating student from the three DISD schools; and A+ Academy. New in 2017, Chamber member Atmos Energy Corporation sponsored five (5) scholarships. Atmos Energy Corporation, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, is one of the United States' largest natural-gas-only distributors, serving over three million natural gas distribution customers. Thank you Atmos! New in 2017, Dallas City Councilmember Rick Callahan (District 5), and champion for Pleasant Grove, sponsored a scholarship. New in 2017, The Norman Prothro Memorial Scholarship, in memory of Mr. Norman Prothro, who was involved in many civic activities and was a long time board member and past chairman of the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Chamber member Dal-Tile sponsored a scholarship. Dal-Tile was founded in 1947 in Southeast Dallas, and is the largest private employer in our area. The Ingram Scholarship focuses on the role of small businesses in this community and across America. Funded by Blake Ingram, the Ingram Scholarship honors his dad William Martin Ingram Jr., founder of Auto City. Close to 90 attendees came out to hear each student tell their unique story, as well as speak about their background, accomplishments, and hopes and dreams for their futures. As a community, we have been very blessed with tremendous support from many area businesses and individuals for the Southeast Dallas Community Golf Classic and GroveFest events, which provided the funding for the SEDCC scholarships. Thank you to all the generous sponsors and volunteers that make these awards possible!

August 2017 Leadership Luncheon pictures

August's Luncheon featured, Mr. Patrick Jones, Vice President of Correctional Health Services at Population Health, Parkland Health & Hospital System as the keynote speaker. Mr. Jones shared the mandate, mission and vision of the Parkland Health & Hospital System. He gave an overview of the psychiatric services availabe through the Parkland System and the ones offered at Parkland's Southeast Dallas Health Center.

32nd Annual Spring Awards Banquet Pictures

Thursday, April 27, 2017 we celebrated and honored our outstanding Police, Fire, Educators, Board Member, Community Member and Business of the Year!
